Simmonds and Associates is the renowned San Francisco Bay Area landscape architect. It was recently awarded with a construction project at Pacific Heights, San Francisco, to renovate the landscape for the 2200 Pacific Homeowners Association.
Among the five firms, Simmonds was selected for this project for its proven potentiality to solve the design complexity with innovative techniques.
The renovation operation for this 1960s architecture includes installation of modern landscape design components that will add to the significance of the building. Expert horticulturists will be employed to upgrade the architecture’s foyer under the porte-cochère, and also the sidewalks leading to Buchannan Street and Pacific Avenue. Low granite-clad walls were mounted on top to make the orifice visible. The walls were decorated with barrel cacti planted to its anterior for a more exquisite appearance.
Stainless steel LED lights were installed on the elegant black granite walls that will light up the bright green barrel cacti. The architectural effect will be further enhanced with the elevated stainless steel trays with softer plantings over the vents, placed at the wall’s background.
The porte-cochère surrounds the 3form Varia Ecoresin panels that facilitate illumination from the street’s natural light to enter the partially-enclosed space. The stainless steel with the barrel cacti will be a centerpiece for the by-passers.
The LEDs, with its increased brightness, will enhance the building’s elegance, thereby attracting the guests and residents of the building. The project, which is now under progression, is expected to be completed in March, 2012.
