JPMorgan Chase declared that it has been honored with LEED Platinum by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This distinguished certification was presented for renovating its global HQ. This successful renovation at 270 Park Avenue in Manhattan is the supreme renovation project to win the Platinum status.
Following the renovation of this 50-story building, the electricity consumption will be reduced to half. The new, high-efficient, draining and filtering system facilitates conserving over one million gallons of water per year.
The global HQ of JPMorgan Chase won a LEED Platinum certification based on several significant features related to green design and construction. More than 12,000 t of construction waste was diverted from landfills, over 99 % of the original building was re-used and over 85% of construction waste including 990,000 sq.ft of carpeting was recycled. A 54,000 gallon tank has been placed at the cellar for collecting rain water from drains on the roof. The resulting water is stored and filtered and used for landscaping, conserving over one million gallons of water per year.
The Energy Star kitchen appliances, computers and monitors; heating and air conditioning equipment; window tine and new building insulation to minimize glare; daylight dimming controls and lighting with occupancy sensors; heat gain and air conditioning load promotes energy-efficiency.
New floor designs and layout facilitate natural daylight and 266 bicycle racks promote greener commutes. In addition, Herb gardens are maintained on a 16,500 sq.ft of new landscaping.
