A new beginning for cardiac care in Michigan will originate with the groundbreaking event of the new DMC Heart Hospital, a part of Detroit Medical Center (DMC).
The inaugural event will be marked at the hospital construction site, proximal to the intersection of Brush and Mack Avenues in midtown Detroit. The guests at the event will include community leaders of the state, DMC and Vanguard officials, and elected officials from Michigan.
With construction slated to be completed in early 2014, the renowned Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) with its team of 45 heart care physicians anticipate managing the new DMC Heart Hospital.
The five-story DMC Heart Hospital, located on an 8 acre site at the south end of the 60 acre DMC campus will cost $78M over the next two years. The new facility will be featured with a nine-level, parking garage designed to accommodate over 1,750 automobiles. Over the next two years, about 250 tradesmen and building workers will be employed for achieving this construction project.
The DMC Heart Hospital is all set to function with advanced facilities and sophisticated features. The new hospital will be equipped with innovative tools needed for vascular surgery, heart surgery, and treating various cardiovascular diseases. Based on the diagnosis, the patients will be shifted from the DMC Harper University Hospital to the new facility for the necessary treatments and medical procedures.
The structure of the new facility is classified based on various treatments as follows: The first floor will be exclusively for non-invasive cardiology procedures, tests, etc. The second floor is designed for invasive cardiology procedures, catheterization labs, etc. Out-patient and same-day surgeries will be carried out in the third floor. The fourth and fifth floors will include clinical space, office and administrative headquarters.
