EPA Honors Roanoke Cement Company’s Cement Distribution Terminals

A Titan America business, Roanoke Cement Company declared that four of its cement distribution terminals have been distinguished with the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The VP of Cement and Aggregates, Sales and Marketing at Roanoke Cement, Don Ingerson said that this honor comes as a result of supreme team effort. The company is focused on minimizing energy as a team which is a demonstration of its dedication. This in turn aids for its acceptance among the community and its customers.

Terminals in Richmond, VA, Castle Hayne, N.C, in Front Royal, VA, and in Chesapeake, VA are being honored. The energy intensity reduction for all four terminals was found to reach an average of 21.76 %.

The Energy Systems Engineer of Titan’s Corporate Engineering Department Steven Drzymala said that these four facilities are premier ones among the cement sector to be distinguished with this prestigious achievement.

According to Jean Lupinacci, Director, Commercial and Industrial Branch, ENERGY STAR, the operators at the four terminals and their managers must be honored for conserving energy utilization and successfully preserving the environment. ENERGY STAR anticipates further recognitions of the firms included in Titan America in the forthcoming years.

Titan America’s Roanoke Cement Plant has been distinguished by the EPA recently, for its esteemed Plant-A-Star program with 15 % reduction in customer energy utilization.

Titan Cement Company, S.A., based at Athens, Greece, is a participant to the UN Global Compact. The company produces heavy building materials in the eastern United States. Some of its products include aggregates, cement, ready-mixed concrete and fly ash beneficiation.
