The Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church at Johnson City, New York enters 2012 with a new feature, under a new roof. The church building was rejuvenated by DaVinci Roofscapes’ Valoré polymer shake roof which replaced the devastated wooden cedar shake roof, giving the church a fresh appearance.
The traditional Ukrainian design of the church’s infrastructure is an icon of attraction for all the church visitors. This huge building is mounted with three 80-ft elevated domes and seems to be totally crafted with wood shakes on the roofs and sides. But, actually the roof is constructed with polymer shakes resembling original wood shake shingles.
The project based on the reconstruction of roofs includes 90 sq of Valoré polymer shake tiles in a Tuscano color mixture of light, medium light, dark and medium autumn colors from DaVinci Roofscapes. The apothecary of this characteristic church imitates other architectures present in the Ukraine.
BSR of Binghamton, New York installed the Valoré roofing tiles on the church, which protects from severe environmental conditions, and also resistant to mold, insects, fungus, algae, fading, cracking, and curling. Thus the new church roof is easy to maintain.
According to Rev. Teodor B. Czabala, Jr , the new polymer shakes resembles the older wooden ones, but these shakes are durable. The peripheral wood in the church building is now dirt free and polished, giving the building a fresh appearance. These artificial roofing tiles create a positive and stunning impact on the church facility, making it outstanding.
