KB Home Presents Sustainability Award to Masco Contractor Services and Owens Corning in recognition of their role in advancing home sustainability and energy-efficient home construction.
Significant features include installation of the new EcoTouch Insulation of Owens Corning, the bio based solution, free of formaldehyde that provides a more comfortable living, generating up to $220 in cooling and heating bill conservation annually1. In addition, the companies offering eco-friendly products facilitating the progress of KB Home’s ‘My Home, My Earth’ strategic environmental initiatives have been presented with Sustainability Awards.
For the first time, KB home has awarded a subcontractor and this is the first time the award is being shared between a manufacturer and subcontractor. The award announcement stated that the recipients express integrity, motivation, innovation, problem solving, loyalty, compassion, dedication, and strong business expertise. The award was an integrated decision from all the levels of KB Home.
EcoTouch Insulation was formulated as a standard insulation product in a new community construction project of KB Home by Owens Corning and Masco Contractor Services. Each newly constructed home was provided with the new insulation, which necessitated the conversion of inventory, product and training specifications.
The first fiberglass insulation to be certified as a biobased product by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is the EcoTouch Insulation, which is also certified by the Scientific Certification Systems to possess the least amount of about 58 % of the total recycled content, amounting to at least 36 % of the post-consumer recycled and the rest of the pre-consumer recycled glass content. Furthermore, the EcoTouch Insulation is proved to be free of formaldehyde with over 99% of natural ingredients including minerals and ecological compounds. It has also been GREENGUARD Children & SchoolsSM certified.
