LiveRoof, a horticultural science company and a licensed wholesale-only grower for LiveRoof, Riverbend Nursery, has declared that the LiveRoof Hybrid Green Roof solution has been selected in North Carolina for five new green roof installations.
The five projects include Walkertown Middle/High School, 3200 sq.ft, Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools, 3000 sq.ft, University of North Carolina, 6660 sq.ft, Transit Authority Maintenance/Operations Facility and Administrative Offices, Greensboro, 16,700 sq.ft and Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center, Raleigh, 7,510 sq.ft.
The LiveRoof Hybrid Green Roof System is supplied to the customer site as a module having locally grown and regionally adapted plants that are well-grown, blooming and can withstand rooftop conditions. Highly advanced and horticulturally refined modules have been designed by LiveRoof. These modules are so designed as to link the soil between and over all modules across the whole rooftop to form a planned ecosystem. This kind of an ecosystem ensures beauty, consistent results and hassle-free maintenance.
Riverbend’s LiveRoof area manager for North Carolina stated that decreased cooling costs in summer, efficient storm water management and long service life for structural roof components are some of the main reasons for increasing the demand for green roofs in the North Carolina area.
President and Co-owner of Riverbend Nursey stated that its green roof customers understand the benefits offered by LiveRoof since the green roof established by the company is a naturally functioning ecosystem. The green roof has proved to provide healthy growing conditions for plants with minimal maintenance.
President and horticulturalist of LiveRoof, Dave Mackenzie stated that it is important to understand plant biology and regional climate in order to choose the right plants for any green roof project. That is the reason for LiveRoof to involve local wholesale nurseries in their projects and make them a part of their national network.
