The Sacramento Business Journal honored Brown Construction, a West Sacramento-based general contractor, with a top Housing Project award for its effort in the Tercero Student Housing Phase II project located at the University of California Davis.
The Tercero II dormitories offer accommodation for roughly 600 students of UC Davis. The LEED Gold-certified project was sustainably developed for energy efficiency. The facility features huge common spaces, meeting areas and grassy courtyards. Students occupied the dormitories in September 2010.
The Sacramento Business Journal selected 17 finalists out of the over 40 submissions for the best realty projects of the year. The nine award categories are Architect of the Year, Community Impact, Public/Private Partnership, Tenant Improvement, Utility, Housing, Infill, Judge’s Choice and Project of the Year. A panel of experts in various fields, including sales, architecture, engineering, construction and development visited every project and chose one winner for each category.
University of California Davis’ Campus Architect and Assistant Vice Chancellor, Clayton Halliday stated that Brown Construction offered high-quality work that included the LEED Gold rating. JF McCray Plastering’s, Dave Kaminga congratulated Brown Construction for its achievement and wished more achievements in the coming years.
The City of West Sacramento’s Building Official, Randy Goodwin also praised the whole Brown Construction team for receiving the top award from the Sacramento Business Journal.
