The new 200,000 sq ft center constructed with an investment of around $110.8 million is finished as scheduled and within the allocated budget. The museum center proposed to be opened to the public view in spring 2012 is anticipated to remain a tourist attraction educating the public.

The Colorado History Museum, which is situated at 13th Ave and Broadway was shut down for public entry on 28th March 2010 and dismantled to pave way for the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center. The construction of both the Judicial Center and the History Colorado Center were performed utilizing the funds collected through the Build America Bonds and Certificates of Participation, thus preserving over $200 million by utilizing the debt services authorized by the legislative without utilizing the general funds of the State. The constructions while bringing economic benefits to the state will also bring relief from spending towards maintenance and private lease payments for the next 30 years.

Tryba Architects, an architecture company based in Denver, has provided the design for the History Colorado, situated in the Civic Center cultural complex of Golden Triangle Museum District in Denver. The construction was performed by Hensel Phelps Construction, a Colorado-based construction company, and Denver office of Trammel Crow managed the construction. The construction provided over 700 local jobs and pumped a good amount of money in to the local economy.

The climate controlled collection storage center of History Colorado will host over 1,000 pallets of museum collections that are kept in a separate storage facility. The center will soon have spaces for public, museum store, restaurant, education and interactive exhibitions, which are presently under construction.
