Hypower, a renewable energy and communications solutions providing company, along with Sequil Systems and Lebolo Construction, has marked the opening of their LEED certified campus, which includes fleet parking, warehouse, offices and fleet maintenance facility.
Hypower is presently attempting for LEED gold certification for their telecom and power service division offices and LEED Platinum certification for the maintenance facility. On receiving the pursued LEED certifications, these two buildings will become the first ever to get LEED certification in the City of Pompano Beach.
The office will include a 10 kW solar photovoltaic system installed over it and connected to the metering system to supervise and separate the usage of heavy energy load of plugged power, lighting and air condition and it will offset large quantity of energy intake in both the buildings.
The project also will include other green energy saving elements such as good insulation, high performing windows and reflective roof to decrease heat gains within the building, Lutron Ecosystem with integrated lighting controls that automatically adjusts to the changing lighting levels intone with the available level of daylight and occupancy rate, and water efficient methods to bring down water usage in the construction by 40.11% and use of water conserving landscaping to bring down the use of potable water by 61.64%.
During the construction process, over 85% of the construction materials were prevented from reaching the landfills and used recycled materials such as the old steel pre-fabricated structure in the new construction and the construction utilized low VOC content materials for painting and carpeting.
