Waterton Residential’s One East Delaware, a high-end apartment community located in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, has secured the United States Green Building Council (USGBC)’s LEED EB Silver certification.
One East Delaware is the first multifamily building in Chicago and the third bigger community in the nation to receive this certification. The community earned the certification by fulfilling the USGBC standards, including sustainable procurement and novel operations, sophisticated indoor environmental quality, water and energy efficiency. It earned more points by implementing green cleaning and alternative transportation practices.
The 306-unit residential community comprises one-bedroom, two-bedroom, studio and convertible apartments and a parking space. A sundeck, fitness center and a 24-hour door service are the other amenities of the community. It is located nearby the central business district, public transportation and the lakefront.
Waterton Residential’s Co-Founder, Peter Vilim stated that the company is pleased to earn Chicago's first LEED Silver certification for its existing residential community. This appreciation is an outcome of the company’s long-term dedication towards environmental sustainability while offering superior quality life to its residents.
Vilim further said that the residents of its high-rises in Chicago, including Mondial, River North Park, One East Delaware and Presidential Towers can easily reach the urban oasis. According to Rick Fedrizzi, who is the Founding Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer at the USGBC, the addition of One East Delaware further strengthens its green building movement.
