Embassy Suites Hotels, an up-market and all-suites hotel, declared that its Denver-Downtown/Convention Center hotel has received LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
It becomes the first hotel within the Embassy Suites trade name and the first in the City of Denver to achieve LEED certification for its eco-friendly design, structure and complied procedures. The hotel supervised by Windsor Management Services was built by WPM construction and developed by WMB IX.
The Embassy Suites Denver-Downtown/Convention Center is located close to Colorado Convention Center and has 14 meeting rooms and 403 guest suites that occupy over 25,000 sq.ft area of banquet and meeting space. The property boasts a rich organic atrium followed by a prominent 13-storey ‘sky curtain’ structure enabling copious natural light inside the building and also has a flowing water feature. The hotel offers facilities such as valet parking, free business center, indoor pool, fitness center, Starbucks, and Elements Restaurant and bar. The hotel also supplies beverages, free snacks and cooked-to-order breakfast at its two-room suites having a separate living and bedroom area and at the reception room of the evening Manager.
The hotel has adopted a number of renewable and green practices that assisted in its LEED certification. In the construction process, it used recycled scrap materials and used the concrete demolished from a multi-story parking slot previously held at the site. To cut down the energy usage and to keep the building cool and to reduce the heat radiation, the building used solar reflective materials over the roof and energy conserving glazing over its windows. The lighting systems and water plumbing facilities in the building are designed to save energy and conserve water respectively. The house keeping facility at the hotel utilizes eco-friendly cleaning materials and adopts competent recycling processes.
The construction of the hotel remains closer to public transport facilities and offers preferred parking for fuel conserving and low carbon discharging vehicles. It also features a bicycle storage facility and a changing room at the location.
