Cree to Build Timber Hybrid Construction in Austria

Cree, an Austria-based construction company and a subsidiary of Rhomberg Group, has declared that it will start the construction of LifeCycle Tower - LCT ONE, the first ever un-encapsulated type of timber hybrid construction measuring eight floors in Dornbirn, Austria.

The innovative idea of constructing a high-rise timber hybrid building as a research project in 2009 has become a realty to commence its construction phase.

Cree, a company specially founded for the construction of the LifeCycle Tower, has declared that it will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction in the middle of September. The proposed tower construction will showcase the viability of a new structure arrangement for use in designing a sustainable building project for urban locations and the advantages of the new concept such as 50% reduction in the time taken for the production of components and construction time 90% improvement in offsetting CO2 emission levels and efficient use of energy and resources.

The LifeCycle Tower will not utilize load-bearing partition walls in the construction thus allowing more flexibility in the usage of constructed space. The unlined timber construction allows the use of wood in the construction of interior offering fire safety while conserving the use of resources. The Tower though will use wood liberally in its construction will use it only in the most appropriate locations thus making sense in the use of wood as a resource while accomplishing the practicality of such usage.
