Proskauer, a global law company, declared that the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has granted its New York office, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Gold Certification, under its rating system based on the energy efficient design and green performance of the building.
The office is one among the biggest law firm offices in the US to receive LEED gold certification and one among few such companies that is located in a LEED certified building. The company has occupied 14 floors of a building located at 11 Times Square having over 400,000 sq.ft, area in one of eco-friendly office towers located in New York City.
The building incorporates a variety of green initiatives such as a glass curtain wall that brings down the heat gain, reducing the thermal loss thus restricting the costs towards utility, cooling and heating and an air filtration facility to improve the quality of air inside the building.
The other green features of the building include the usage of low VOC products such as seating, furniture, coating and paints, use of recycled content in the construction space, installing of furniture that conforms to sustainable content standards of USGBC, use of low mercury systems, installation lights that are controlled by occupancy sensors, improved management over HVAC systems to improve personal comfort and to cut down energy intake.
