LP Building Products, a producer of man-made wooden products such as exterior siding, structural framing and OSB required for light commercial, industrial and residential construction, declared that it has expanded its LP FlameBlock a fire resistance rated Oriented Strand Board (OSB) Sheathing panel availability.
It has added its 7/16 group of panels that carry 24/16 span rating thus enabling the availability of LP FlameBlock Sheathing for applications such as roof decks, in which panels of such dimension and span rating need to meet the code prerequisites.
LP FlameBlock Sheathing combines the fire resistance capabilities and the structural performance in a single panel. The panels are developed by employing a proprietary non-flammable, fiberglass-reinforced Pyrotite application to LP OSB panels. The LP FlameBlock products are ICC certified (ESR-1365), their structural sheathing is PS2-rated along with Class A type of flame spread rating. The product offers burn-through resistance for an extended duration, thus providing a thermal barrier (ASTM E119) of 20 minutes and does not contain any unsafe chemical.
In the installation of the load-bearing and fire-rated walls, the FlameBlock panels can cut down the time and cost related to the installation of walls of structural sheathing and gypsum combination or double layers of gypsum. The panels are offered in Struct-1 and standard grades and in lengths of 8, 9 and 10 ft. The panel provides all the inherent benefits of plywood without its related problems such as delamination, splitting, warping and cupping.
The panels are offered in 19/32, 15/32 and 7/16 categories meeting the requirements of builders and designers and the 7/16 LP FlameBlock panels are found to be more suitable for the construction of roof decks in multifamily type of constructions with multiple fire walls.
