Virginia Natural Gas Lakeview Corporate Center, has received LEED certification for its two storeyed brick and glass construction in Virginia Beach.
The new building when compared to the other buildings of similar size conserves 24% energy. The 32,500 sq.ft building opened in Nov 2010 hosts the corporate head quarters of the company and serves over 275,000 clients.
The Corporate Center is situated in the Lakeview Corporate Park close to the central business district of the city and away from Independence Boulevard. Armada Hoffler has developed and completed the construction of the building using a number of green energy efficient components.
The energy efficient features that lead to the LEED certification of the building include its achieving 24% increased energy efficiency and its usage of natural gas as its main fuel source for the multi-partitioned HVAC system, thus reducing the peak power demand in summer by 82%.
The construction with its bigger sized windows and effective glazing provides nearly 93% of natural lighting for the work stations. The efficient and low water flow fixtures incorporated in the building enables up to 30% increased water savings. The buildings’close proximity to public transport facilities offers substitute transport facilities from the location.
