Ballast Nedam, a construction and infrastructure company, has signed an agreement to construct a part of Hogeschool van Amsterdam’s Amstel Campus on Wibautstraat and Boerhaavestraat. The construction includes the University of Applied Sciences building, student housing, catering and sports facilities.

The new development contract along with technical equipment is valued at over € 93 million. The technical installations would be the responsibility of Burgers Ergon.

The new Wibaut Building and Boerhaave Building project would cover floor space of 67,700 m2 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2014. The buildings form a part of the Amstel Campus’ development. The campus would provide a combination of studying, working, recreation and living. The Boerhaave Building will have teaching facilities, student housing, catering facilities and a sport centre. The Wibaut Building will feature offices, teaching facilities and underground car parking facilities. At the back of the Wibaut Building, a residential building is to be constructed, which would house 60 student units.

Ballast Nedam ensures coordination for the client by integrating all of its working processes in the chain. The family of Ballast Nedam companies enables the feasibility of chain integration. The companies include Ballast Nedam Foundations, Hoco Beton for concrete, Omnia Plaatvloer for flooring, and Ballast Nedam Specialist Earthmoving.
