Delaware Governor Jack Markell and M&T Bank declared that M&T Bank will construct a new 20,000-ft2 data center worth $20 million in its current operations plant in Millsboro, Del.
Governor Markell stated that M&T has decided to carry out expansion operations and employ people to construct its new data center.
M&T Bank predicts the completion of the project in early 2012, which is around the same time when the company had planned to increase its workforce in Millsboro. Currently, over 450 employees are employed at the bank’s facility in Millsboro and roughly 50 new jobs will be generated to expand the call center and to construct the data center.
The president of M&T Bank’s Delaware area, Nicholas P. Lambrow, stated that they have occupied the Millsboro community for several years and have current operation and workforce in the region. Hence, they wish to continue their investment in this facility throughout the State of Delaware.
Director of the Delaware Economic Development Office, Alan Levin, stated that it is encouraging companies to realize the potential of doing business in Delaware. M&T is making a vital contribution to the state, he added.
