The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized Ashton Woods Homes for energy-efficient construction of over 949 ENERGY STAR qualified homes in 2010 with a 2011 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award.
Ashton Woods Homes’ contribution to environmental protection has also saved customers over $424,203 in collective annual utility bills.
Homes that are ENERGY STAR qualified provide environmental benefits, which are equivalent to saving approximately 2,812,836 lbs of coal, balancing the emissions of about 465 vehicles, reducing CO2 emissions of over 5,516,537 lbs and also equal to planting 769 acres of trees.
To become an ENERGY STAR qualified home, the energy efficiency guidelines setup by the Environmental Protection Agency of United States must be strictly followed. By doing so, each home built is at least 20% more efficient in comparison to standard homes built today.
The Senior Vice President-Operations of Ashton Woods Homes, Ralph Farrell stated that as a builder, Ashton Woods is committed to providing customers with energy efficient homes. An ENERGY STAR qualified home features high performance windows, effective insulation systems, ducts and tight construction along with properly-sized cooling and heating equipment.
