Beacon Capital Partners and Cassidy Turley declared that 10 office buildings owned by the associates of Beacon Capital Partners have been granted LEED Operations & Maintenance certification under the existing building category by the U.S. Green Building Council and checked by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). All the 10 buildings that received LEED Silver Certification have a combined space of around 2.5 million ft2.
The LEED for Existing Buildings- Operations & Maintenance certification was accomplished by the introduction of number green strategies such as improved water efficiency, energy conservation, improved recycling processes and program for efficient diversion of waste products.
The buildings received LEED Silver certification for the introduced changes in their operations and maintenance processes that provided a positive impact to the project. Some of the processes followed include full building retro-commissioning processes for select buildings, introduction of energy saving features to cut down overall energy usage, and implementation of energy audit for all the constructions. Among the total 10 buildings 8 buildings have received ENERGY STAR for ecological protection and energy efficiency. The buildings have also joined in a demand response program to cut down their peak power demand from the grid thus assisting the community, ecology and the utility companies. The electronic recycling event organized by the company has prevented more than 10,000 lbs of electronic equipment, monitors, batteries and printers from reaching the landfills.
