Sterling Construction declared that Texas Sterling Construction, its subsidiary company based at Texas has won the six mile section of the SH 121/ Southwest Parkway project as the lowest bidder.
The project located in Johnson and Tarrant counties is a segment of a toll road to be renamed as the Chisholm Trail Parkway in September this year and it will be operated by North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA). The total project when completed will cover a distance of around 28 mi from the Fort Worth South’s central business district to Cleburne, Texas.
The project requires around 2 million cubic yards of earth work, concrete paving for 337,000 square yards, construction of storm drains for a distance of 14,000 linear feet and construction of 12 bridges. The project expected to commence in August 2011 will be completed in a period of 27 months.
Brian Manning, P.E, Chief Business Development Officer of Sterling called the project a standing example to fund transportation projects within the regions with the coordination between the local authorities, Texas Department of Transportation and the tolling agency to earn dollars.
