NCC Construction Sweden has declared that it will build an advanced radiotherapy clinic in Uppsala, Sweden in partnership with Akademiska Hus. The project is valued around SEK 470 million.
The building will have a total construction area of around 13,500 sqm and will include a clinic, treatment facility, patient hostel with 90 rooms and an eatery. The clinic will utilize protons for radiotherapy instead of the regular X-ray or electron radiation. The proposed building will have a custom design with 3.5 m thick walls in the radiotherapy treatment ward.
The proposed project will involve a structured teamwork in which contractors, consultants and the developer will jointly work out the building assignment. The process, established on an open and committed cooperation, will allow all the partners to use their professional skills during various stages of the project.
The project will begin in June 2011 and is anticipated to be completed in May 2014. During the construction process, the project will provide employment to approximately 75 people.
