Peab, a construction and civil engineering company, has entered into a partnership deal with the Swedish exhibition and congress centre, Svenska Mässan, to execute the expansion of the Gothia Towers in Gothenburg.
The partnership accord, valued around SEK 1 billion, will include the development of the Hotel Gothia Towers with a 6-storey body construction on top of the present East Tower and a new 29-storey hotel tower. The additional constructions will allow the hotel to add over 500 rooms, thus making it the largest hotel in Europe with a total of 1,200 rooms.
The construction of the third tower and the body will include eco-friendly features and will be categorized under BREEAM, an international environmental assessment method and rating system.
Construction will commence shortly and is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2014-2015.
