Carlson and Mortenson Form Partnership to Construct Radisson Blu Hotel

Carlson, a hospitality and travel company and Mortenson, a USA-based private construction services providing company, have declared the construction commencement of the Radisson Blu Hotel.

The 500 room hotel construction proposed with a budget of USD 137.5 million will be located next to Mall of America. The hotel is being constructed under equal partnership between the two companies.

The Radisson Blu Hotel at Mall of America, which is designed by Elness Swenson Graham (ESG), a national architectural company will have 13 floors and it will be linked to the mall using a skyway. The drive-up entry for the hotel will be located on the ground floor and its lobby will placed on the second floor of the mall. The custom designed guest rooms of the hotel will incorporate three unique room styles of Radisson such as Urban, Naturally Cool and Mansion House.

The recreational facilities planned for the new construction include an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center and a full-fledged spa. For arranging conferences and events, an area measuring 22, 5000 square feet is earmarked, which includes two large ballrooms. The construction will also include a caretaker lounge and floor with improved rooms and facilities.

The new hotel will have a Cocktail Bar and a FireLake Grill House, the modern design idea, for which is developed on the concept being used at the Radisson Plaza Hotel located at the center of Minneapolis. The staff to be deployed at the hotel will be trained to offer the reputed services of Radisson. The hotel is anticipated to commence its operations from March 2013.

The hotel will be located away of Interstate 494 and three miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The hotel can be reached in 20 minutes from the center of the city using the light rail facility.
