Eternit has produced a pocket-sized fixing guide for its fibre cement slates portfolio to help architects with specification and drawings and contractors with estimation and installation.
The 32-page, third A4 booklet is a user-friendly source of information on the slates themselves, their dimensions and weights, as well as the materials that are used with them - underlay, battens, lead, nails, rivets and screws - and their storage and setting out as well as site safety.
The guide also advises on estimating amounts, suitable laps and pitches and windloading. Instructions on fixing in accordance with the current BS 5534:2003 are accompanied by architect-friendly technical drawings for standard eaves, ridges, ventilators, verge closers, vertical slating, abutments, valleys, hips and terminals.
Should specifiers and contractors still require assistance, Eternit provides a comprehensive technical support service that is free to all customers and is staffed by qualified personnel who with the aid of CAD software can deliver recommendations swiftly and effectively.
