Deere will construct a new agricultural equipment manufacturing factory in northeast China to help the increased requirement in the area. This new facility will fabricate sprayers, harvesting equipment, planters and large or mid-sized tractors. The first expenditure of Deere is around $80 million for this project.
The company’s investment in this project will develop the solid groundwork of John Deere working along with the people of China for the common success. Since 1970, Deere has been helping the agricultural sector in China as it was involved in the Friendship Farms, which was a pilot farming project.
The location of this new facility will be at Harbin in the Heilongjiang Province. Already, the company operates the John Deere Jiamusi Works in the same province. This John Deere Jiamusi Works is the main supplier of cropping equipment in China. Painting, product assembly and manufacturing technologies of metal fabrication are included in the new construction.
Deere will start groundbreaking in the third quarter of 2011. The company anticipates manufacturing products in the new factory during late 2012. This new factory will be the seventh manufacturing site of Deere in China. Also, it includes two joint ventures that initially serve the Chinese market.
