Texas Tech University has declared the construction commencement of its residence hall measuring around 178,000 square foot at a cost of around $45 million. The project, which is anticipated to get completed before the fall of 2012 semester has become necessary to meet the growing student enrollment at the University.
The proposed building designed by BOKA Powell will compliment the existing Spanish Renaissance architectural style of the university buildings. The new building will provide housing for 516 students and will have features such as private bathrooms, ceiling fans, shared living areas, refrigerators, microwave ovens and Ethernet connections in every room in addition to other exclusive facilities.
The new construction will also include a two storied dining hall measuring 22,000 square foot with domed type of ceilings and it will also incorporate new design ideas that allow the students to witness the preparation and purchase of food inside the campus. The canteen building will have a number of parking lots and three exterior courtyards.
Austin Commercial is chosen to complete the construction of the project.
