U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District Grants Construction Contract to Jacobs Engineering Group

Jacobs Engineering Group, in partnership with Huitt-Zollars, declared that U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District has granted a contract to the company to provide construction stage services inside the Southwest region and mainly at the Fort Bliss Army Post, situated close to El Paso, Texas. The value of the contract is $65 million.

The Fort Bliss Expansion Program, estimated around $5.0 billion, includes green field development in more than 4,500 acres, key upgrades in Army Airfield Area with more than 1,000 acres and numerous infill projects over 3,000 acres of land at Fort Bliss Main Post. The program, carried out by the US Army, sustains the worldwide reposition of soldiers.

The Grow the Army initiatives and the Base Re-alignment and Closure symbolize one of the biggest construction attempts undertaken by the army after World War II. It is anticipated that over 34,000 soldiers and their families will be placed at Fort Bliss by 2013.

According to Tom McDuffie, Vice President of Jacobs Group, the company has been supporting the US Army Corps of Engineers project for the past four years and the construction phase services from the company are anticipated to improve the army’s quality of life and training facilities.
