John Holland, a construction contracting company in Australia and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leighton Holdings, declared that it has received an important deal with Chevron to provide design and construction services.
As per the contract, John Holland will construct permanent buildings on the Gorgon Project operated by Chevron. The Gorgon Project is the first ever single source natural gas project in Australia and one of the major natural gas projects in the world.
The contract valued over $180 million will require John Holland to design the proposed project and provide the necessary facilities in the administration and building operations. The company will also build lab and operations center buildings on the Barrow Island for the Gorgon project. John Holland will provide design and construction services for a number of buildings such as warehouse, workshops, hazardous goods store, utilities and services and fire station. It will install the LV Switch Room and transformers and provide civil works for lay down areas and roads. It will provide construction services for the operations center building that houses a clinic and the central control room.
The Gorgon Project will include the construction of a gas facility as well as an LNG plant on Barrow Island. The project will be started in late 2011 and is anticipated to be completed by 2013.
