Turner Construction, a general building company in the U.S., declared that it has signed an accord with Brookfield Properties, a real estate company that develops, manages and owns properties in North America and Australia, to provide renovation services to a retail mall located in downtown Los Angeles.
The project also known as Fig at 7th is situated at 735, South Figueroa Street in Los Angeles.
The Fig at 7th project, valued at around $23 million, requires the renovation of the entire three-story enclosed retail mall that is spread across 330,000sqft. Turner Construction will pull down the present guardrails, slab flooring, elevators, escalators, signage and exterior and interior finishes of the building. It will construct new flooring, escalators, stairs, paving, finishes, demising walls, signage and provisional storefronts. The company will also modify the existing plumbing, electrical, mechanical and fire protection systems. The renovations designed by Gensler are anticipated to get completed by May 2012.
According to Kevin Dow, Turner's SoCal office’s Vice President and General Manager, the renovations to the existing building will offer improved retail facilities for a number of years to the residents and guests of the building.
