Accelergy, declared that it has obtained $1.3 million funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to commence the construction of a facility at Intertek PARC, situated at the U-PARC facility in Pittsburgh.
The new facility will showcase the company’s integrated coal-biomass-to-liquids (CBTL) technology platform. Earlier, the company had received a $175,000 as fund to perform a feasibility study and zero in on the location of the facility.
The new funding will enable Accelergy and its associates to demonstrate the integrated procedure of converting coal into liquids and acknowledge the development of a full-fledged commercial level production facility in the state. The facility will allow Accelergy to generate and test a range of non-petroleum fuel products such as diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel. It will also deploy a process that will utilize algae to change the carbon dioxide into extra fuels in the liquid form and a bio-fertilizer.
General Manager of the Intertek PARC facility, Dr. Robert Absil, stated that Intertek will offer its technical and scientific pilot plant and laboratory assistance to Accelergy Energy Strategy Environment, a systems integrating company that will bring in the much needed technologies and business associates required for the recycle process and carbon capture of the project.
Currently, Accelergy has signed an accord with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering (TARDEC) Center and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory to evaluate and certify the produced fuels for various purposes.
