Shea Concrete to Provide Concrete Materials for Construction of Newmarket Station

Shea Concrete, a pre-cast concrete producer located in New England, has been chosen to supply pre-cast concrete materials for building the Newmarket Station on Fairmount corridor of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).

The Newmarket Station is one of the constituents of the proposed Fairmount Commuter Rail Rehabilitation Project, which is aimed at changing the corridor covering over nine miles. The project, which includes the construction of three new stations along the Fairmount line, is anticipated to cut down the usage of cars within the city.

The Newmarket Station will be located next to the Mass Ave Bridge

As a part of the city’s effort to sustain its metropolitan industrial segments such as the Newmarket Back Streets district, a new passenger railway station is being constructed close to the South Bay Shopping Center. The shopping center will house over 1,000 businesses within its premises, which is believed to be the biggest industrial area located within the city of Boston.

Shea Concrete has been chosen to supply pre-cast concrete products such as drainage structures, electrical and communication manholes, and bases of light poles to construct the Newmarket Station. The company supplies concrete products to the general contractor of the project S & R Construction, a Newton, Hampshire-based Company.

The project, which began during the last part of 2010 is anticipated to get completed by February 2013.
