Chevron U.S.A Awards Detailed Design Engineering Contract to KBR

KBR, a company that provides engineering, construction and other services for the hydrocarbon, energy, minerals, government services, power and industrial markets and civil infrastructure, declared that it has been contracted by Chevron U.S.A. to carry out an elaborate engineering design for the Jack & St. Malo floating production unit (FPU) situated in the Lower Tertiary trend in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

The Jack and St. Malo production fields are placed around 280 miles south of New Orleans, Louisiana within 25 miles from each other in water depths measuring 7,000 feet.

KBR will provide the needed engineering and design support supply by constructing a semi-submersible (floating vessel), which includes a dock box, hull, lodging space, equipment foundations, accessories, anchor suction piles and design for the mooring system. The proposed semi construction will be designed to reduce the motion of the vessel and provide satisfactory level of fatigue life to the moorings, risers and connecting cords.

Granherne and GVA consultants, the subsidiaries of KBR will jointly work in completing the current phase of the project. The present contract succeeds the fruitful conclusion of an abstract engineering and design, pre-FEED and FEED for the Jack & St. Malo FPU project provided by KBR.
