Bayer, in its quest to achieve LEED gold certification, has declared its plans to invest around $17 million for the ‘Workspace of the Future’ refurbishment project at its Pittsburgh headquarters in US.
The proposed project will concentrate on improving two of its buildings located in Robinson Township, which houses the maximum number of employees.
The proposed working environment will incorporate and display new products introduced by Bayer MaterialScience. The building will utilize the Makrolon MAK clear polycarbonate produced by Bayer MaterialScience to allow the penetration of natural light all over the workspace. The polycarbonate material will be utilized in designing LED light fittings and lobby panels that depict the Bayer Logo. Technogel, another product from Bayer MaterialScience will be utilized in constructing seating facilities for guests and employees all over the building. The polyurethane liquid solid material present in Technogel increases seating comfort.
The other energy-efficiency design features planned for the buildings include ENERGY STAR rated cooling and heating equipment, low-flow plumbing to cut down water usage by 20 to 40%, and energy-conserving windows introduced by Graham Architectural Products. Graham glass-reinforced polyurethane technology is used in the windows. The exclusive polyurethane resin provided by Bayer MaterialScience is used in the windows. The windows not only provide sturdiness and solidity but also offer thermal insulation and eco-friendly features.
