Saudi Organometallic Chemicals, an equal partnership between SPECIALTY CHEM, which is an affiliate of SABIC and Albemarle Netherlands, has declared the selection of Samsung Engineering to offer engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for the proposed aluminum alkyls production facility of SOCC situated in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
The SOCC manufacturing facility will begin production of around 6,000 MT/year of Tri Ethyl Aluminum, which is responsible for improving the catalytic activity during the production of polyolefin. Currently, Tri Ethyl Aluminum is being supplied to the manufacturing facilities of Albemarle located in North America, Asia and Europe. The product will be supplied to local clients from the proposed SOCC plant, once it starts its commercial production. Samsung will start carrying out the detailed engineering functions for the proposed plant at its facility in Seoul, Korea.
The proposed production facility will be built over a site owned by SPECIALTY CHEM, in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia. The project is anticipated to complete mechanical installations by the third quarter of 2012.
