Ed. Züblin to Build TaunusTurm in Frankfurt

STRABAG, a leading group of construction companies in Eastern and Central Europe, declared that it has contracted an accord with Züblin for a turnkey construction project through its auxiliary company Ed.

The contract will require building the TaunusTurm at the Taunusanlage Park situated in Frankfurt’s financial district.

The project is being formulated based on a design proposal prepared by Gruber and Kleine-Kraneburg who are the architects based in Frankfurt. The clients of the project are Tishman Speyer, a US real estate company, and Commerz Real. The construction of the TaunusTurm project will be performed by the Stuttgart unit of Ed. Züblin and its sub-division under a business relationship known as “Züblin teamconcept” with Tishman Speyer. The two companies had earlier completed OpernTurm project in 2009 under the same partnership concept.

The construction project valued at around € 200 million includes the construction of a 170 m office tower comprising 40 floors and another residential building measuring 62 m with 16 floors. Each residential building is connected by a six floor perimeter block. The building complex will be built over a land measuring around 5,500m² with four under ground floors. The building will comprise a gross floor area of 103,000 m², and its total lettable floor area measures around 62,000 m².

The construction of the building is anticipated to commence in April 2011 and to get completed by the end of the year 2013.
