Insituform Technologies declared that it has been chosen by the City of Montreal, Quebec, Canada and granted a contract worth $12.2 million to reconstruct the existing sewer pipelines.
The finishing of the project will enable the city to achieve its ongoing infrastructure improvements successfully.
The project will require Insituform Technologies to reconstruct wastewater pipelines running in lengths of over nine miles with diameter sizes varying from 10 inches to 42 inches. A major portion of the project comprises reconstructing the egg-shaped pipeline.
The company had first completed the installation of the cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) in the UK in an egg-shaped design 40 years before. After that, the company being the developer of CIPP technology has erected the CIPP for nearly over 19,000 miles of pipeline all over the world. The project is anticipated to get finished before the end of the year 2011.
According to Ken Foster, Insituform’s President in Canada, awarding of the contract corroborates the assessment of the company to open its branch office in Montreal during June 2010. The company is now rightly placed to meet the growing demand for such reconstructions in Quebec and all over Eastern Canada, thus creating new job opportunities.
