NCC Construction Sweden, a residential construction and commercial property development firm, received a SEK 290 million worth contract from the Municipality of Täby to build two traffic circles with a connecting tunnel at Stora Marknadsvägen road, which has the Täby Centrum shopping mall located nearby.
In addition, the project work includes extensive pipeline rerouting along with earthworks that include rock excavation and large-scale earth excavation.
The construction of traffic circles with a tunnel will be carried out in two levels. The new Täby project is a major challenge for NCC related to both logistics and structural engineering. Thomas Widehag, NCC Construction Sweden’s Contract Manager for Contract Stockholm/Mälardalen region, states that the architectural design of the traffic circles is extraordinary and this imposes challenging demands on the company.
The traffic circle and tunnel construction in Stora Marknadsvägen will begin in mid-April and the assignment is expected to be completed by October 2013. The construction work will involve approximately 30-35 people.
