A Thomasville, Alabama-based site has been selected by Lakeside Steel, a diversified producer of steel pipe and tubing, to construct a new heat treatment and end-finishing plant.
The new facility is worth USD $7.5 million and will be located near Lakeside Steel’s new casing mill, which is currently under construction.
Lakeside Steel’s initial 10" casing mill project in Thomasville receives significant support from the State of Alabama, the City of Thomasville and Clarke County. The company believes that Thomasville is the right choice for new heat treatment and end-finishing facility and will offer significant benefit to the stakeholders.
The company, through the new facility, will be able to enhance and process P, N, L, and J grades of OCTG products, which are certified by American Petroleum Institute. Majority of North America’s drilling operations require these OCTG products.
The President and CEO of Lakeside Steel, Ron Bedard, stated that the new facility will enable the company to deliver competitive and quality products into the markets. He added that the company will continue to acquire new and cost effective assets.
