Sterling Construction Becomes Low Bidder for Design-Build Project in Utah

Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction (RLW), a subsidiary of Sterling Construction, based in Utah has been chosen as a low bidder for the design-build construction project by the Utah Department of Transportation in southwest Salt Lake County, Utah. The value of the construction contract is $33 million.

This construction project comprises a new interchange, walls and concrete paving at Bangerter Highway over 7800 South. It also incorporates renovating the joints of Bangerter Highway at 6200 south and 7000 south and changing them to Continuous Flow Intersections (“CFI”). The rate of traffic flow will progress through Utah’s busiest intersections by constructing interchange and CFI. The project will also arrange the crossroads to handle the traffic demands in future owing to the growth of population. The company anticipates beginning the design in April of 2011 and plans to complete the construction in June of 2012.

Both the design and construction responsibility goes to the contractor in this design-build project. The company plans to commence construction before the design is completed and expects to complete the total project in a very short span of time.

The company has become a low bidder for more than $150 million construction projects.
