The Building Industry of America (BIA)-Hawaii’s Construction Training Center of the Pacific (CTC), located in Waipahu, Hawaii is fitted with Acoustiblok, a sound reducing material to lessen the penetration of external noise and make the building soundproof.
The training center occupying an area of around 16,000 square-feet provides complete education, training and career counseling to developers, contractors, builders, government officials, suppliers and business owners.
The sound insulated building has utilized over 4,700 square feet of Acoustiblok sound reduction material donated for the purpose. The Acoustiblok was introduced to the building during the construction stage. The stud wall of the building was added with 3mm level of the UL approved Acoustiblok instead of the normal practice of pouring 12 inch level of concrete to restrict the penetration of sound.
The heavy but wilted type of Acoustiblok material vibrates from the external noise in fact it changes the acoustical energy into un-hearable type of stifled friction energy in a process known as isothermal adiabatic. The material can be compared to heavy lead, which performs in the same process and has similar STC sound reduction value.
