MYR Group, a well-known contracting company dishing up the needs of the electrical infrastructure market in the USA, declared that it has contracted an accord with the Dominion to reconstruct around 96 miles of 500 kV power transmission line situated in West Virginia and Virginia.
The current project is an initiative of the Dominion to resurrect its aging power infrastructure that requires re-laying the 500 kV power line laid in the middle of 1960.
Under the terms of the signed accord L. E. Myers, an auxiliary company of MYR Group, will offer construction services for laying the new line, which include pulling down of the existing line, installation of the required foundation for the new line, construction of structures and conductor stringing. The project is anticipated to commence during early May this year and the power line will be commissioned on 15th May 2015. William A. Koertner, chairman and chief executive officer of MYR added that the re-construction while improving the electrical infrastructure of Virginia will also usher in new jobs and improve the local economy.
L.E. Myers has been serving the Dominion providing electrical construction services for nearly 30 years and was engaged in a number of such projects in Virginia and North Carolina. Currently it is engaged in the construction of 500 kV Carson Substation to Suffolk Substation (60-mile) and Meadowbrook to Loudoun (65-mile) transmission lines.
