Gradient Resources, a vertically integrated company engaged in the development of geothermal energy projects, declared that it has entered into an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) accord with Benham Constructors, a fully-owned design build auxiliary of Science Applications International (SAIC) for the delivery of a new modular binary cycle power plant of 60 MW net capability at its northern Nevada located Patua project.
For the project SAIC has taken the Houston, Texas-based TAS Energy as its technology partner.
The Patua site located near Fernley, NV, is the first geothermal power plant of Gradient. The company re-started the drilling at the site during February 2010. Gradient is planning to commence the actual construction of the first phase of the 60 MW plant in the second quarter of 2011 and is planning to hand over it for commercial functioning in the third quarter of 2012.
Craig Mataczynski, CEO of Gradient, expressed his happiness in achieving a significant progress in the project. He added that the prospect of working along with SAIC and TAS will assist in the progress of the project and make it successful.
