Technip, a company that provides, engineering, building and project management services for oil and gas industry, declared that it has entered into engineering, procurement, construction and erection accord with GDF SUEZ.
The contract valued around €45 million will require Technip to develop the Gjøa field situated in the Norwegian segment of the North Sea.
As per the clauses of the contract, Technip will provide the technology required for the construction of two smoothbore gas export risers (a single pipe or a pipe fabrication that is utilized to transport the generated fluids from the seabed to the land located facilities) to link the Gjøa platform with that of the pipeline utilized for gas export. Technip will also take out the currently existent rough-bore risers and erect two new smoothbore risers. The company also will perform the associated pre-commissioning activities.
The signed accord will be executed by the operating center of Technip located in Norway. The risers required for the installation will be fabricated at the flexible pipe plant owned by the group and located at Le Trait, France. The offshore installations required for the project will be completed by Skandi Arctic, a vessel owned by the company. The offshore installation work is anticipated to be finished during the later part of the year 2011.
