A joint venture between Leighton Contractors and Opus International Consultants has been awarded a five-year, $191 million Integrated Services Arrangement (ISA) by Main Roads WA, servicing the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.
The Leighton Opus Joint Venture, in collaboration with Main Roads Western Australia, will deliver improvement and maintenance services for the regional road network, including support for network operations, operational asset management and associated project management.
Peter Hicks, Executive General Manager at Leighton Contractors, said the company would draw on their strong experience in roads operation and maintenance in the Eastern States to partner with Main Roads WA.
“This contract will bring together the construction, operations and maintenance expertise of Leighton Contractors to improve and ensure the ongoing maintenance of local roads in the Wheatbelt,” he said.
“The JV will also work with the local community to provide local employees, subcontractors and suppliers with access to training programs and our advanced management systems.”
Melvyn Maylin, Managing Director for Opus Australia, said its core business includes provision of world best practice asset management services.
“As part of the JV, Opus is committed to supporting Main Roads WA in further developing its asset management capability and capacity. It is also a wonderful opportunity for Opus to learn from Main Roads WA,” he said.
Services will commence in March and will see theWheatbelt ISA team maintaining 3,400 km of main roads across the Wheatbelt, from Northam to Southern Cross and Moora to Wagin.
