KBR Provides Engineering, Project Management Services for Clipsal 500 Event in South Australia

KBR (NYSE:KBR) today announced that it has been awarded an engineering project management contract by the South Australian Motor Sport Board (SAMSB) for the annual Clipsal 500 event in Adelaide, South Australia.

The three year contract includes the 2011 race. KBR has been consecutively appointed as Engineering Project Manager for the four-day racing event since 1999.

KBR’s Australia-based project team provides engineering, project management and construction management services for the erection and dismantling of race infrastructure and track maintenance. The work includes managing all contracts associated with erecting the temporary racetrack, and associated infrastructure such as pits and grandstands, catering facilities, and a medical center. KBR will also liaise with a large number of stakeholders including SAMSB, Adelaide City Council, the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI), and SA Water to ensure there is minimal impact to road and parkland users during the construction of the race track and infrastructure on public roads.

“KBR is honored to have been selected for the Clipsal event for the 11th consecutive year, and we are grateful for the opportunity to continue our longstanding relationship with SAMSB and the city of Adelaide,” said Colin Elliott, President, KBR Infrastructure and Minerals. “I am confident KBR’s international race event management experience will result in us providing our client with cost-effective work and a minimum construction period. We look forward to showcasing another successful race day.”
