Sinohydro takes delivery of new Dynapac compaction rollers for the start of road construction on Qatar’s Lusail new city development.
Two purpose-ordered Dynapac CC424HF double drum vibratory rollers have been delivered to Chinese contractor Sinohydro for the start of its road construction contract on Qatar’s prestigious Lusail new City development near Doha.

Both rollers join Sinohydro’s recently delivered CP271 pneumatic tyred roller and an older CP142. The company also has a newly ordered extension for its Demag paver; all ordered through local distributor Oriental Trading Co.
Located just north of Doha and covering a 35 km² site, the new city development will comprise 18 different districts.
It will feature a blue water lagoon with two marina’s, 25,000 residential units to house 200,000 people, hi and low rise buildings , commercial districts and mixed-use areas, retail, leisure and entertainment facilities, two golf courses, 22 schools and a hospital.
It will also include an underground metro linked to the new Doha rail network.
The project has been divided into 9 infrastructure packages CP1-CP9 and a landscape package CP10.
Package CP1 was awarded to Sinohydro in March 2008 with a completion date in 2011 and includes 21.5km of roads and highways, a bridge and five underpasses.
Its initial contract also includes infrastructure works on the marina, earthworks and site preparation.
Work has just started paving the first kilometres of Sinohydro’s contracted 21.5km roads and highways.
The Chinese contractor has opted for a purpose-ordered fleet of Dynapac paving equipment comprising two CC424HF double drum rollers, a CP271 and CP142 pneumatic tyred roller, and a Demag paver.
In addition, the company has rented a number of Dynapac’s including a CP221 from local company Contra.
The newly delivered CC424HF double drum rollers feature an operating weight of 11,650kg and drum width of 1730mm.
Powered by a Cummins diesel engine rated at 93kw (125hp) at 2200 rpm, the CC424HF offers a speed range of 0-12km/h.
Sinohydro is expected to shortly order a F141 Dynapac paver from the local dealer and is also using a fleet LA780 Dynapac hand rollers across the Lusail development.
