Austral Bricks Victoria has demonstrated its environmental credentials by supplying bricks, splitface coloured masonry and retaining wall blocks and large format pavers for Geelong’s first eco display home, Sharland Oasis.
The eco display home, an initiative of regional urban water authority Barwon Water, demonstrates the latest in water saving and energy efficiency technologies.
The display home achieves an 80 per cent reduction in water and energy use in comparison to a standard house. Austral Bricks was a major supplier for Sharland Oasis, which was built using environmentally-friendly construction techniques.
In July, our project partners Third Ecology Architects and Daran Constructions won the Housing Industry Association’s National GreenSmart Project Display Home of the Year award. A fitting acknowledgement for an outstanding achievement. The architect’s brief was to design a contemporary family home using readily available products in innovative ways to provide environmental benefits in comparison to the standard family home. All products were to offer environmental benefits, not only in the products used, but also in their production.
The project provided Austral Bricks with the ideal opportunity to promote its commitment to the environment.
