Integrated Electrical Services (Nasdaq: IESC) has been awarded a major contract from McShane Construction Company to install solar systems, electrical infrastructure and lighting for the Felton Homes public housing community in Macon, Ga.
The Felton Homes community is undergoing a complete renovation and "green transformation" by the Macon Housing Authority. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provided partial funding for the project, which was earmarked for green initiatives that include the rooftop solar system that IES will install on each building. When the Felton Homes renovation is completed, all homes will be equipped with energy-saving appliances and energy-efficient insulation, roofing and windows and will consume approximately 10 percent less energy.
"McShane's extensive experience within the multi-family, affordable housing and renovation markets will ensure the successful completion of this large reconstruction assignment," remarked Scott Hoppa, vice president of McShane Construction Company's Southeast Region.
