e-Builder, the leading provider of integrated capital program and construction management software announced today that Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, ranked among the best hospitals in the nation in U.S. News & World Report's 2010-11 Best Hospitals, has selected e-Builder Enterprise software to standardize and automate construction management processes, enable efficient cost management and controls, and provide project stakeholders with visibility into a program’s status through easy to access reports and dashboards.
Prior to e-Builder, the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Facilities Management team managed costs through a combination of spreadsheets and financial software. Through careful research they recognized that they could leverage e-Builder’s healthcare industry expertise to enable industry planning, design, and construction best practices while improving visibility into key project data. e-Builder was chosen after careful review of other project management systems because of its healthcare industry market share and experience, ease of use, and integration capabilities with Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s PeopleSoft financial software.
With e-Builder’s cost module the Facilities Management team will be able to manage project costs in real time, with immediate access to reports providing visibility across the entire program for actual expenses and other commitment costs. As a result, project stakeholders will have immediate access to projected cost and cash flow forecast data, and tighter cost controls.
e-Builder’s Processes module will standardized several processes, including the routing, review and approval of RFIs and Change Orders. The integration between the Processes and Cost module is also reducing the need for duplicate data entry. Any process having a cost impact (e.g., change order) can immediately update cost data in the budget as the process is launched. As a result, the impact of all potential changes is known as soon as they are logged in the system, either through reports or dashboards, and the data only needs to be keyed in once.
The integrated reporting features provide different stakeholders, from project managers to directors and executives with immediate visibility into Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s capital budget status. This provides project executives with an early-warning system to manage issues in time to take corrective action. e-Builder will also provide Dartmouth Hitchcock with a centralized, collaborative system to manage and track project documentation while maintaining an automated audit trail.
